Vision Farms Blog
Well, a lot has happened in 2020, and we hope you have fared well through it all! We have been very blessed here, throughout the year, as so many folks were seeking food source alternatives, starting their own flocks of chickens, and looking for puppies to enjoy with all the extra time on their hands. Thus, we have kept very busy, and have been able to meet a lot of new folks, during this time when interacting with people has been so discouraged. We are so very thankful for this farm, and thankful that we have been able to share it with so many of you. Please continue reading to see what we have to offer this fall, and from all our family, we wish you the most blessed Thanksgiving. We hope you are spending it with friends and family!
As you can see from the picture, we have a new litter of Great Pyrenees puppies available. It is such a ray of sunshine, every morning, to walk out to the barn and be greeted by all these adorable faces. Pyrenees puppies are so incredibly sweet! They are more mellow, than any breed of puppy I have ever seen, and they just don't come much cuter than these guys. They are currently five weeks old, and really starting to develop their own personalities. Great Pyrenees dogs are a very different breed of dog from most, with their own idiosyncrasies. They can be a huge lapdog one minute, and be fiercely barking at any suspected threat the next. They love to cuddle with their people, sleep most of the day, bark a lot at night, and don't mind ignoring you, if they believe they have something more important to do, like guarding your animals or your family. If you are interested in a large guard dog, come out and get aquainted with them. I'll warn you though, it's hard to leave without one!
We now have lamb available! You can purchase a whole or a half, cut to your specifications. The lamb we are offering is of the Finnsheep breed. They are not a large breed, but are small boned and have a delicate, gourmet type flavor. When processing a lamb, you will lose about 50% from live weight to hanging weight. Then, with bone in cuts, you will lose another 25-30% from the hanging weight to your take home weight. A whole lamb should give you approximately 35-40# of meat, so it doesn't take up a huge amount of freezer space. A whole lamb is $5/# and a half is $5.50/# based on the hanging weight, plus the $99 processing fee. Click below to contact us to make your order. Orders must be in by December 7.
We are currently out of eggs until our new pullets start laying in December. If you are interested in getting eggs from our pastured chickens, please click below, and we will get you on the list!
